About Grandview and Upper Grandview
Just as they were in the early 1800’s, the riverfront area of Grandview-on-the-Hudson and the hillside of Upper Grandview remain beautiful places to live whether in a quaint cottage or Victorian estate. Sandstone was mined in Grandview; stones were shipped to New York City to build homes. Steamboats and the railroad brought people to and from the city to lavish hotels and inns overlooking the river. Those were lost as the passenger boats and rails came to a stop. Some properties were taken with the building of the Tappan Zee Bridge in the 1950’s, but much else has remained the same.
