HOMER LYDECKER. I am in my 55th year of selling real estate in the Nyack and Rockland County area. After serving in the Navy and graduating from Colgate University, I joined my father in this business which he founded in 1931. I married my high school sweetheart and we raised four wonderful children. Two of them, Jill and Dale now run the agency.
I was President of the Rockland County Board of Realtors in 1975. It was my ambition to assist the people of the Nyacks’, and Rockland County as a volunteer. I served as a Village Trustee in South Nyack, President of the4 Rockland County YMCA, Consistory member of the First Reformed Church of Nyack, 32nd Degree Mason, President of the Nyack Action Council (predessor of the Chamber of Commerce), President of the Nyack Rotary Club, Vice President of the Nyack Hospital Board of trustees, President of the Upper Nyack School Board, and a founding member of the Nyack Field Club.
The real estate business has made it possible to meet countless numbers of people and make many friends.

In 1974, Dale Lydecker, a former baseball and football star on Nyack High School and University of North Carolina teams, joined his father and grandfather in the real estate and insurance business, after playing both sports professionally. The firm’s name changed to Lydecker Agency. Dale Lydecker is a graduate of the Real Estate Institute (GRI designation) and has served as a guest lecturer in general real estate courses at Rockland Community College. Dale is both a real estate broker and a general insurance broker. He is President of the Lydecker Realty Corporation. Like his forebearers, Dale Lydecker volunteers in the community. He has served on the Rockland County Y.M.C.A. Board and is a former vice president of the Nyack Monday Morning Quarterback Club and a past Deacon of the Reformed Church of Nyack.
Dale lives in Valley Cottage with his wife Linda, and they have two daughters, Courtney and Caroline. Caroline attends Nyack College and Courtney is in Nyack High School.
The year 2005 marks the 75th year of Lydecker Real Estate. It is the longest running family owned business in Rockland County. The office location was moved in 1954 from Broadway to Main Street. It is a convenient location in the heart of the Village of Nyack, close to theaters and restaurants. Please stop in to see us, we are open 7 days/week.

You have to enjoy people to be in this business. It's really about assisting people with one of the biggest investments that all of us make. If you happen to like the area where you work, it is much easier to show others what is special about it. I have been in the real estate profession for over 20 years now and there is always something new to learn. People from all walks of life, new and old friends, all types of real estate, listing or selling; it is always interesting. I have had the benefit of family experiences in the business; my grandfather, father and brother have all been listing and selling for years. A firm handshake sealed a deal not that long ago, as my father would attest to.
I am always excited to be showing off the area I know best. Rockland County is a very special place to live. It has so much to offer people in its proximity to New York City, and to the parks and lakes close by. Most anything you'd like to do is within easy reach. There is an energy which goes with this area that keeps one steppin'. I love the pace. I enjoy serving the community in various organizations. It is a great way to meet people and to help improve the place we live.
My two children went to school in Nyack and are now on their own, living and working in Seattle and Colorado Springs. They both have close friends from Rockland County whom they still see or communicate with.
The best part of my business for me, is making someone happy by a successful transaction. Repeat customers are not uncommon at this agency. We often share a walk down memory lane with families we have been serving for generations.

I started selling real estate in 1993 after a very successful 24 year career with IBM. At the time, I was relatively new to Rockland County and wanted to learn more about the area. I like people and homes and thought real estate would be rewarding. I first worked with a large real estate franchise organization in New City, I learned a lot about the industry and the County. In 1995, I joined Lydecker Realty. Since then, I have helped a great number of people in their real estate needs. Many have become close friends.
I treat people fairly and honestly. I try to be a consultant rather than a salesman. I recognize that the purchase or sale of a property is often a highly-charged emotional transaction. It is often coupled with a job change, marriage, divorce, death, birth or some other significant event in someone's life.
I recognize this and try to reduce the anxiety in the transaction by not pushing too hard, and trying to really hear what my clients are telling me. I also use technology extensively to assist in communications and helping make sure the transaction goes smoothly. .
So far, I have been very successful and the great majority of my business is from referrals. However, I always enjoy meeting someone new - someone who I can help find the home of their dreams or help in the sale of their current home.
I throw a fun Halloween Party each year for my clients and friends to thank them for their support. It’s wonderful to see everyone together and especially to see the kids as they mature. I have travelled extensively and continue to do so and have a tremendous interest in theater which I attend several times a week.
I’d like to work for you. Nobody works harder for you than me, period.

When preparing this bio a colleague reminded me of what makes me feel good as a Realtor. The smile and thank you from a young couple that finally got their first house after months of searching, are the intangibles that created my work ethic.
Married for 35 years, with 2 grown children, I have lived in Rockland County for over 50 years. Growing up in Piermont gave me a small town perspective of our community. Graduating from Tappan Zee High School and attending Rockland Community College and finishing my Bachelors Degree in Business at Nyack College, have kept me tied to our Rockland Community. Two years in the military in the sixties was the only time I lived outside of beautiful Rockland.
I have been a Realtor with Lydecker Realty for over ten years, following a twenty-six year career with NYNEX. As a concerned citizen I have spent many years volunteering in our non-profit arena. Examples of my volunteerism include The United Way Of Rockland, Hudson Valley Children’s Museum, Dominican College, Child Care Resources, Rockland Industrial Development Agency, North Rockland Soccer Association and the Rockland Economic Development Corporation.
I take great pleasure in telling people about this wonderful community we live in.

Nine years after moving to Rockland from upstate New York, I proudly joined Lydecker Realty in 2003. The project management skills I developed in more than 15 years as a research scientist at Wyeth Pharmaceuticals have greatly benefitted me in my real estate career. This is because each client has a unique set of preferences and personal circumstances and because there are many milestones throughout the buying/selling process, which if carefully managed, contribute to a smooth transaction.
I work very hard to give my clients the best possible service and to establish a lasting relationship with them. Whenever a former client thinks of buying or selling, I want to be the agent they contact!

I grew up in Nyack, graduated from Nyack High School, (class of ’72), Hartwick College (Bachelors), Teachers College Columbia University (Masters and ABD), and NYU School of Real Estate. After a 20 year career as a university administrator, counselor and instructor at colleges and universities (Loyola University Chicago, University of Detroit Mercy, SUNY @ Purchase, Seattle University) in the Midwest, New York area and Seattle, I returned to Nyack in 2000. Reconnecting with the community, I again live in Upper Nyack and am now Co-Vice Chair of Friends of the Nyacks, Co-Chair Rockland Friends of the Clearwater, and a member of Grace Church, Nyack. In addition to real estate sales, I also have a small career counseling private practice. I am new to real estate sales, but recognize that listening well as you describe your needs and your hopes is critical to insuring that your real estate expectations are met.

Rockland County has been my home for the past 44 years with my residence in Upper Grand View and Nyack. I started my Real Estate career in 1970 and have had the pleasure of selling and listing homes in Nyack and all of Rockland County. With years of experience of finding the perfect home for my clients, I look forward to doing the same for you.
On a personal note, I'm a mother of two sons, both of which live in the Nyack/Valley Cottage are with their families. Complimentary to my real estate career, I have over 15 years with the HSBC Bank USA as an administrator in their Commercial Banking sector. In addition to my working life, I have been active both in the past and currently in the Nyack Chamber of Commerce, the Edward Hopper House and the Garibaldi Guard Association, the latter representing the 39th NY Civil War regiment, that participates in reenactments and living history events.
Looking forward to meeting with you to discuss your Real Estate needs.

First time home buyers are my specialty. But whether it is your first home or listing your home for sale, I will make you feel safe, comfortable and most of all informed of all your options. I have been practicing Real Estate for 8 years and hold licenses in NY and NJ. I have been a Nyack resident for 15 years and previously lived in Bergen County, NJ; making me knowledgeable in both Rockland and Bergen Counties. Let me put my experience and understanding to work for you.

My family moved to Rockland County in 1965. My Father, who was a school teacher in the Bronx, was so exited to move his family to “the country”. I attended East Ramapo schools and lived in New City. I haven’t gone very far; I now live in Congers. I have two grown children who were graduates of the Clarkstown School district.
The change in Rockland over the past 40 years has been quite an experience to watch. I remember when the Nanuet Mall opened and was so happy that my parents would let me ride my bicycle there. Our only other shopping areas at the time were E.J. Korvettes and the old Grand Way. How many of you remember that store?
It has been my pleasure to be in the Real Estate profession for over 25 years. I have been lucky enough to have worked with builders, sponsors of complexes and commercial real estate in Rockland, Orange and surrounding areas. I have worked in leasing and selling, and in management as well. My real estate experience has only been with smaller and more personal real estate companies. Lydecker Realty was exactly what I was looking for when I changed offices over 2 years ago. Most of my clientele has been through word of mouth. I try to work with only one customer at a time so that I can give them all the attention that their most important investment deserves. Whether it is a seller or purchaser, I pride myself on being honest and reliable. It’s always a pleasure to meet and work with new people and show them the beautiful Rockland County and Orange County.
